Mission Chinese

154 Orchard Street. Looks like a small take-out chinese place, but of course behind all curtains there's a hidden gem. I just ate here a few days ago for lunch after hearing about all the buzz and reading about its great reviews and more than decent score in ZAGATS. The decor is very hip. Its a small place but had the right vibe. Communal tables or table for two, lounge/club beats, dim lighting, wooden beams...I arrived at 2:30 pm for lunch (kitchen closes at 3 for lunch) but word on the street is wait time are over two hours. My dish recommendation:

Thrice cooked bacon There's thickly cut pieces of bacon, sliced rice cakes, chili oil, tofu skin (didn't notice that), and thin slices of bitter melon, also some black beans in there as well. Wow, this dish is too freaking good. If you've never eaten a sichuan peppercorn, it's cooling and spicy at the same time. It's like a ballet of spicy and comforting feeling, hard to describe.
